The Innovations in Teaching and Learning (iTL) Seminar is a biennial NIE event, organised by the Centre for Innovation in Learning. It provides opportunities for participants to collaborate and cross-pollinate ideas, learn about new pedagogical innovations, and share best practices across the teaching community.
iTL 2023 was a partnership between NIE and Google, held at Google Asia Pacific, Singapore, and was conducted in a Design-a-thon format. Mr Wong Yew Leong (Lecturer, PCL) facilitated the discussion through using the "Design Thinking Framework” enabling participants to come together and discuss problems in education collectively. During the event, participants visited the Human Library, which featured existing pedagogical innovations from NIE to gain inspiration for their design-a-thon ideas, as well as the paper plane installation, to get insights on how education can be 'future-ready'.
Through the design-a-thon discussions, participants worked in groups to create an original idea to benefit learners, and 3 teams were awarded for their winning ideas at the end of the event.
