This lecture explores the meaning and use of practical wisdom for education. Developmentally, perhaps, virtuous moral character is prior, but once students reach the level of senior high school - early adulthood, we need to make more intellectual demands on them. We have to think about the nature of the flourishing life and develop phronesis. This lecture will explore the nature of phronesis - it will be defined and it will call for an increased awareness of the value of phronesis in teacher training and continued professional development.
